Painting
The driving force behind my painting comes from engaging and reacting to the world around me. I use newspapers as supports ranging in scale from double-paged spread to a day's entire edition. Most paintings are largely unplanned and improvised - an intuitive reaction to the form and content of the individual newspaper pages - with a multiplicity of outcomes. They play with form, imagery and text and the conventions of abstract and figurative painting, making the familiar strange, whilst simultaneously making connections between disparate elements, generating new associations and meanings.
